What started out as a simple dream-turned planned adventure, biking across Canada became something grand and life-changing for myself. The more I thought about it, the more it seemed like a good idea. All the skills and knowledge I learned from Katimavik, Canada World Youth and up to that point would be put to use. However, I wanted it to mean something big, something that would connect myself with my own community and so I turned it into a fundraiser for youth organizations back home.
Part of those skills and knowledge used meant literally putting myself into a tourist's shoes. I would be visiting and passing through towns no longer as a resident, but a stranger. The internet became a plethora of information. I researched travel blogs, bike touring information, town map sites, and made strong use of social networking sites like Facebook and Couchsurfing.
The adventure gave me an unbelievable sight of a lone traveller and a comparitive view with many other travellers, biking, driving or traversing elseways. The eco-friendly form of transportation gave me a deeper appreciation for that style of tourism, one I would want to thoroughly support.

Nearly four months later, I made it
