During my time working at the community garden in Hazelton, I was offered the opportunity to attend a Green Leaders Conference in Prince Rupert hosted by the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) This was meant to gather youth from around the northwestern BC area and discuss how our communities played an integral role in the environment of the region we lived. Nathan Cullen, Member of Parliament for the Skeena-Bulkley Valley was a guest speaker and gave a short presentation, encouraging us to embrace our leadership roles.
I learned that even though our communties are small, they still play a vital part of sustainability; economy, health, and overall success was a combined effort, with the Skeena river connecting us all through history and the lifestyles that are dependant on it.
